There is a mistaken belief that qualitative researchers are in the business of interpreting stories and quantitative researchers are in the business of producing facts.

All researchers are interpreters of data. Furthermore, researchers must be able to account for the biases in their interpretation of the data.

Therefore, both qualitative and quantitative research methods are useful. Qualitative for detail examination data and Quantitative for big data to identify patterns.
